Happy Easter!

Curtis & Lori dropped by today and brought some Easter cheer! The cookies are for Dad, the mug with the lid with the cat is for me. Lori said the cat reminds her of Shiro. I had bought some chocolate about a month ago; Dad's is a Reese's peanut butter rabbit, I had also gotten a milk chocolate rabbit for Mom, and individual chocolate candies.

Curtis brought over the DVD that he has of an interview Mom did for KFVE a few years ago about the volunteer work she was doing at Liholiho School. The senior volunteers called themselves the Wednesday Wahine since that's the day they did their volunteer work. Mom had told Curtis no one else wanted to talk to the interviewer so she did. (And since this was a television interview they totally mispelled her name in the website version.) We will be using the short clip as part of Mom's memorial service on Friday. Here's a photo that I found of the group in 1990-1991.
The lady to Mom's left is my kindergarten teacher, Miss Tanaka.

Today Brent, Gavin, & Anita showed up at Iolani Palace for the filming of the final scene of the locally-produced "Go For Broke" movie. They will be one of the many extras. Gavin cut his hair in order to look more like the part; Anita went to Savers secondhand store to find clothes appropriate for the 1940's. Filmaker Stacey Hayashi was interviewed on television tonight about the film. Stacey is a friend of our cousin Baron and has interviewed Dad about being in the 442nd Regimental Combat Team. Its kind of neat that Brent & Gavin can be part of making a movie that honors their grandfathers' service.

This afternoon I found Xander curled up in the Cat Genie. In Washington, during the winter, I frequently found the cats in the Cat Genie as soon as it finished the cleaning cycle because it was nice & warm. The weather was fairly warm today when I found him in the Cat Genie so he wasn't trying to get warm. He has been acting differently since Mom died, but I'm not sure whether this is part of his grieving.

I finished the PowerPoint slide show for Mom's memorial. It has 249 slides and runs about 21 minutes. We are going to get a digital photo frame so that it can be running during lunch for anyone who wants to look at it.

Happy Birthday to Pat, Maire, Eric, & Roxanne! Also Happy Orchid Day, Bean Counter Day, Eggs Benedict Day, Healthcare Decisions Day, & Wear Your Pajamas to Work Day!
