Jamaican Dinner

David, Sarah, & I went to dinner on Thursday evening at the Jawaiian Irie Jerk Restaurant at their new location. Which is at least twice as large as their old location. The decor was difficult to figure out, it wasn't Jamaican, or even Hawaiian. Some parts looked Ancient Greek (helmet on display), some New Age (gender-neutral humanoid walking down path with indescribable images), some modern Waikiki ("The Pottery" Valet Parking sign), and the lion painted on the outside front wall made it look somewhat Ethiopian. Thankfully, the menu was still Jamaican!
I sent a copy of this to Sam for her next visit here.

As always, the food was still good! David had the Jamaican Curry Goat, Sarah had the Jamaican Ital Stew, and I had the Jamaican Jerk Chicken, in honor of my friend Sandy who told me about this place.
David with Jamaican Curry Goat (in bowl at front).
Sarah with Jamaican Ital Stew (in bowl to right).
My Jamaican Jerk Chicken ( to right of center of large plate). I also got all the bread since neither of them can eat gluten.

When I got the bill I was not expecting that they would include a tip along with the charge. Sometimes there is a print out on the credit card slip that tells you what the tip would be at 10%, 15%, & 20%. This time it just printed a tip amount on the tip line; it was a 100% tip! Of course, it was an error. The waitress did a refund, then ran the correct amount for the cost of the dinners.
It was good, but not that good!

This morning I started out by taking Xander to the vet for his blood glucose test; he has been on the reduced prednisolone dose of 1/4 tablet every other day for about 10 days now. He has become so used to going to the vet and not having major bad things happen that he was napping on the way there. Good news! They reduced his insulin from 4 units to 3 units twice a day. Perhaps by the time he is done with the prednisolone treatment his blood glucose will be back to normal.

In the morning David & Sarah did some outside chores that I have been unable to do because of my injured knee. David trimmed the new mango branches that were on the wire side of the existing branches. Sarah picked the ripe pomelos; I thought there were only a dozen or so left on the tree after Sam & Kasondra picked the ones they could reach by ladder. David showed Sarah how he had used the hooked picker earlier in the year; Sarah got all 44 of the ripe ones that were left! (There is a second crop of small green ones now growing.)

Happy Belated Birthday to Micah & Kulsoom!
