New Checking Account? Done!

Since yesterday I have been reminding Dad that we had a 2 pm appointment today at First Hawaiian Bank to start a new account. It is a checking account with Dad's name and my name; that way I can write checks on the account instead of having to take him to the bank every month to get cash the way that Mom liked to do it. It will also have a savings account attached to it; Wesley (Mom's banker) set it up so there is a monthly deposit from the current Trust account to this new account to provide money to keep it active.
Temporary check register w/counter checks.

Wesley says the regular checks should get here in about 2 weeks. That will be in time for me to be able to write checks to cover the expenses for Mom's service. We are leaving the other account open because Mom had nearly all the monthly bills on automatic payments; their pensions, Dad's disability, and their social security payments have been going in by direct deposit. It would be too much of a hassle to notify all the creditors of the change and also the payers.

Shiro decided to sleep with Dad this morning. But he only wants to stay there in the morning. The rest of the time he is in the chair in the family room. Some days Dad sleeps more than the cats!

Kai will be arriving on April 17th for the service, on the late night flight again. He will leave the day after the service with Aunty Daisy. She will be arriving with Scott on April 11th; Scott extended her stay so that she could attend the service but he has to leave on the 18th as previously planned. I offered to have Kai fly back with her so that she could attend the service. I told Kai this was good practice for when he has to take care of me!
