Dad's ER Follow-up

When we spoke with Dr. Solberg, the ER doctor, on Saturday she wanted Dad to be re-examined. When Nurse Alex went over the discharge papers, she said Dr. Solberg wanted Dad examined today. Alex said when I called for the appointment to say it was for an ER follow-up. That is apparently the magic phrase, I called at 8 am and got Dad in at 2 pm; but he could not remember falling on Saturday. Dr. Nakano had more blood drawn to see what his levels are at today after the potassium drink at the ER and a couple bananas and some mashed potatoes since then. Results just came in this evening via the Kaiser medical records site; he's still a little low on the potassium, but everything else that is in is normal. Still waiting for the Vitamin B-12 results. Dr. Nakano will call in the next couple of days to discuss next steps.
Dad's blood pressure, heart rate, and blood oxygen level were normal.

I also asked her to check out a dark spot on Dad's back that Curtis mentioned that he found when he was cleaning Dad up a couple weeks ago. I saw it in the ER when Dad was changing in to the exam gown. Dr. Nakano had photos taken, they were sent to the dermatologist. We should hear back by the end of the week.
Dr. Nakano circled the suspect spot for the dermatologist to examine. (It's only about 1/8" in diameter.)

Curtis & I went to breakfast this morning at Yogurstory; he had only been there once before. We are now checking out breakfast places other than those that are on his Top Spots list. Apparently Yogurstory started out as a soft serve yogurt cafe in 2010, then in 2012 became more of a bar and restaurant. Although their sign says brunch and doesn't mention breakfast, they open at 7:30 am. That's not the only misleading thing; when you walk in their sign-in sheet says to wait outside so you don't clutter up the door. We did that; another group came in right after us and got seated right away without signing in. So we walked back in. Curtis had the Simple Breakfast Combo, I had the Ube Pancakes. I liked the pancakes, but then, I like ube and coconut, which is what the sauce was. There are some other things on the menu that I would like to come back and try.

Simple Breakfast Combo (minus hash browns).
Ube Pancakes.
The garnish; Curtis thought the raspbery was a strawberry.

This morning before I left for breakfast, Dad was stirring, but he didn't want breakfast. He only wanted his Boost Breeze and water. In the meanwhile, he was surrounded by cats! Unfortunately, even with the Boost 3 times a day he still lost 3 pounds in the 5 weeks since his previous visit to Dr. Nakano. Over the next month I will be trying to get him to eat more, I am hoping the banana muffins will help. I will be taking Dad back to Dr. Nakano's in a month for a weight check.

Dad's appointment was in the afternoon. By the time Dr. Nakano was done with her examination, the photos of the suspicious spot, the blood draw, and picking up Dad's prescription, it was 4 pm by the time we got home. Dad went back to bed shortly after we got back.

Happy Birthday to Tim, Denise, Uncanny Injury Guy, Rikayla, & Kerry!
