Took my elder friend Vivian to her second radiation treatment today. We were here yesterday, too, but the machine broke. We joked that it was because she was so ornery! And guess what, it broke again!
Due to my being ill for a couple of weeks (bad cough followed by gum abscess) I have not been able to get as much packing done as anticipated. I also have an unexpected trip back to Hawai'i for Uncle Art's service, so I decided to go a week early to take Mom to her appointment with the geriatric specialist. So I will have another 2-week period of no packing. Since that means I will be here in April I decided to do the second oral surgery that I had made an appointment for last year when I was not exactly sure when I would be retiring. Which would also mean follow-up appointment 2 or 3 weeks later. So my estimated time of departure now looks like some time around mid-May.
Happy Birthday to Clarissa and Melody!

12/05/2014 Plant Table
We built a plant bench for Mom and planted Manoa lettuce, nasubi, and New Zealand spinach for her. The tomato was a volunteer we found in the garden. Soils were amended with Soil Moist so when she forgets to water, the almost nightly drizzle should at least be enough at this time of the year to keep the lettuce growing, not sure if the others will be able to get by on that but it will give them a better chance.

12/06/2014 Final Chore (for this visit)
My final chore was to paint yellow stripes at the grade changes around the outside of the house to make it easier for Mom to see. She had cataract surgery a couple of years ago which made it better but she still has problems. Dad has 20/20 vision, it got better as he got older!
