On Sunday, Ron and Dad signed all the papers turning ownership of the Bronco over to Ron. Yesterday, Ron spent much of the day preparing the Bronco for shipping. Today, Ron took possession and took the Bronco down to the pier to have it loaded for shipping to Washington. Here's Mom saying good bye to the Bronco; even though she is not a driver, she is attached to having things be just the way they always were.
And here's the new Bronco owner. On his way to go burn off extra gas. The Bronco can have no more than 1/4 tank when it is shipped; it had about 3/4 and we couldn't get the siphon to work to get the excess gas out of it. Ron plans to restore the Bronco, he will be sending photos to Mom & Dad as he works on it.
Back in July 1994, when Kai was 8 & we came for a visit, he spotted Dad's 1977 white Ford Bronco ... and thought he had found O. J. Simpson's white Ford Bronco that had been in the news the previous month. I had to burst his bubble & tell him it wasn't the same one. (According to Wikipedia O. J.'s was a 1993.)
We got a call from Annette in Dr. Chan's office; Mom goes in for a transfusion tomorrow. We have to leave the house by 7:30 tomorrow morning, I will be prepping the fruit for breakfast & Dad's lunch before I go to bed tonight.
We went to do Mom's cross match for the transfusion after sending Ron & the Bronco on their way, then tried to run a few errands. We discovered the power was out in our area so we weren't able to do any banking. Power went back on before we got home. How do I know the power was out at our house if it was on when we got back? The clocks on the electronics were blinking; fortunately there are only 6 in Mom & Dad's house so it was a quick fix.
I missed my chance to have some fun with a scammer today. I answered the phone this afternoon and heard, "Hi, Grandma!" "Who is this?" "This is your grandson, Grandma!" "Who is this?" "It's your oldest grandson, guess who!" I hung up on him. I should have kept talking to him, playing along, maybe say, "Oh, George! It's been so long since you called I didn't recognize you!" Then offered to send him money when he asked and got all the details. Then called the HPD. I'll be ready next time. (Just heard on the news that a local lady got scammed by a man posing as her grandson for $2500. This is apparently so common it has a name, it's called the Emergency Scam or the Grandma/Grandpa Scam.)
Happy Birthday to Pam, Susie, & Christina!
