Peter & Carlos from Hakoda Builders Appliance arrived around lunchtime; they had the new control panel with them. And it turned out to be the problem! I no longer need to go to Waimea to do laundry. Hūlō!

They had to take off top to get to control panel. |
Peter, Carlos, & I talked while they worked & I found out they were both interested in the history of the area. (The bunches of drying laʻi leaves made them curious.) I told them about the Kohala Reunion, they & their families might show up for one of the days. I also told them about the Kohala ʻĀina book.
Today Chris & Spencer finished installing the flooring! It looks great! Hūlō! There was just enough material to cover the area; they used the short end pieces for under the bookshelf.

The upper edge will be under the built-in bookshelf. |
I almost forgot to get a "before" photo of the door that Chris will be rebuilding for the cat yard. There is a "solid" door the goes under the house. I say "solid" but it is kinda falling apart. It only has one usable hinge & has to be propped up & balanced just right so it doesn't fall over.

After lunch, Chris turned the water off for a few hours to hook up the cold water to the Cat Genie Room. Later he will plumb the line in to the demand heater so there will be hot water in the Cat Genie Room. Hulō! And he started installing the sheet vinyl flooring in the Cat Genie Room; its one solid waterproof piece to make clean up easier.
Speaking of cats, I gave the cats their Bravecto dose this morning. I want them to be prepared for going outdoors. I had given them flea & tick meds during the 1st year I had them to get rid of any parasites they picked up while they were running around outside, then I stopped dosing them until today.

Moʻo did another really intricate knot around the calamansi tree trunk. This was from last night when I went to the Kohala Night Market so she had a few extra hours of running around to create this beauty!
The buds on the Makali Ahu ʻŌhiʻa are definitely showing a little color! I am looking forward to seeing the full-sized flowers.
The ʻŌhiʻa ʻai flowers are starting to bloom. If I remember, I will try to get a photo when the whole tree is covered with flowers. And also when when the ground under the tree is all pink!

The jaboticaba fruit are ripening, but it is not a large crop as in previous years. This year's fruit are fairly spotty.
In the evening Olomea comes to the front porch to eat. She stays around talking to me so she gets fed more. I have discovered that she will frequently quietly sit or lie on the front porch & wait for me to notice she is there.

The monthly status report for Mauna Loa arrived today. Mauna Loa is an active volcano, though not as active as Kīlauea, which is considered to be the most active volcano in the world. But Mauna Loa does have the distinction of being the largest active volcano in the world; its makes up about half of Hawai'i Island. It last erupted in 2022; I think it lasted about 3 weeks. I saw it during the 1st week of the eruption.
The eruption on Kīlauea is still paused. But it is still spewing out vog. Thankfully, the trade winds are back so the vog is pretty much going westerly & does not linger over the part of the island I live on. My cough is getting better as my lungs rid themselves of vog irritants.
