Home Health Assessment

Nurse Rachel came by today from the Kaiser Home Health Service; Xander intently watched all the activity. She checked Mom's vitals; her blood pressure was normal at 120/80 mmHg, her oxygen was at 100%, & her temperature was normal. Rachel also listened to her lungs to see how she was doing with the pneumonia and watched Mom walk around. Everything was going well until Rachel tried to do Mom's blood draw. Mom was dehydrated so her veins kept collapsing when Rachel tried to get blood out of them. Mom will have to go in to the lab tomorrow to have the blood drawn by the phlebotomist. In the meanwhile she needs to get hydrated and stay hydrated.

Nurse Rachel said the physical therapist is scheduled to come some time on Monday, I will get a call soon to set up the exact time. The physical therapist will be able to tell us if Mom can benefit from PT for her legs. Nurse Rachel said another RN will also stop in early next week & she will come later in the week. There will also be a certified nursing aide coming in some time to help Mom with a bath. Mom also has an appointment with her primary care physician, Dr. Pham, on Tuesday for a follow-up for the hospitalization. In the meanwhile, we will have the people from Ho'okele Health come in the evenings to help with overnight care.

Later Suzanne & Manu, their son Dwayne, daughter-in-law Jackie (who is 7 months pregnant), and grandchildren Kaleo & Kawaiola brought lunch over. We had a great time with all the good food from Zippy's! They brough Korean garlic chicken, mahimahi, spam musubi, hamburger steak, macaroni salad, saimin, and turnovers.

Suzanne works for Ikea. She has worked there for years and years and years. There is no Ikea in Hawai'i, so she brought us a bunch of gifts from Ikea and a couple of non-Ikea gifts. The omiyage were in a Knalla bag and included the Skubb boxes, the Koppla 3-port USB charger, Finfordela bendable chopping board, Istad plastic bags, Bevara sealing clip, the very large Frakta shopping bag, Sylt Lingon lingonberry preserves,  Renew Moisturizing Lotion, and Panera Bread Balsamic Vinaigrette.

The Skubb boxes don't show up very well because they are black and absorb all the available light, becoming a black hole in the photo. (Click on the link in the paragraph above, it shows a white Skubb so you can more easily see what they look like.) They are really cool, they have a zipper in the bottom that allows them to be collapsed for storage. There are 3 sizes in the package; they will come in very handy in my drawers.

I forgot to include the Bevara in the photo above; it was already waiting on the pile of goodies to be put to use.

Happy Birthday to Joan, Maria, JJ, Laurie, & Jackie! Happy Barbie Day, Crabmeat Day, Get Over It Day,  & Meatball Day!
