Deja View

Last night when I walked into Dad's new room I was pretty sure it was in the same vicinity as one of the rooms Mom was in but one floor lower. The things that looked familiar were the rainbow eucalyptus tree outside the window, the path the cat was on, and the balcony to the north. Today I looked through some old photos and look what I found. Check it out below.

Dr. Collis talked with Curtis this morning. The options they discussed were giving Dad a CT scan of his abdominal area today or waiting until Monday; they decided to wait until Monday. Today is the start of the 3rd day of the blood cultures, if the cultures are positive and help identify the causative organism, then no CT scan would be needed. Dr. Collis is off over the weekend, he returns Monday, hence the Monday alternative. If they can find nothing, then they will do a CT scan on Dad on Monday; which will involve having him drink a bunch of stuff so his gastrointestinal tract is more visible. Good luck with that!

We discussed the options presented by Dr. Collis over lunch at the Sunrise Cafe. Curtis tried the vegetarian option of Tofu with Black Bean Sauce; I had the Fish Jun. They were both very good. We realized we have been here quite a lot; we are getting to know which entrees to avoid & which ones to choose.

Fish Jun, with sauce on side; I should have taken another photo after I covered it with the sauce.

Dr. Chawla came by later to see Dad. She said he looks more frail than he did on the earlier hospitalization; we agree with her on that. I told her about the choice we have made regarding the CT scan.

In the evening, Dad woke up about dinner time. He said he wanted a hot turkey sandwich so I ordered one for him with a vanilla Magic Cup. When it arrived I also gave him a banana. They do actually have bananas at the cafeteria but they are the large Williams type bananas; Dad prefers the smaller local apple bananas.

This morning when I got up, the refrigerator was doing very well! The little cups of water I had put in the freezer were frozen solid. The refrigerator was also keeping things cold. When I got back from Kaiser, the error message was back on; however, the cups of ice were still frozen solid and the coin was not sitting in a puddle of water so it had not been off for very long. Hopefully it keeps this up until April 19th when Jacob or one of the other Sears techs will be back to put the new parts in.
