Dad's monitor at 8:16 this morning. Looking good! |
I left about noon so I could get back to the house to wait for the Sears refrigerator repair person. Jacob arrived around 1 pm and got to work. He took all the shelves out and began melting the ice with a steamer in order to get the back panel out. Once he did, he discovered that there was a bunch of ice built up back there. After testing the components he found that the defrost heater and the control were bad; unfortunately they don't carry those parts with them so he had to order them. Which means we need to wait until they come in before it can be repaired. We scheduled the next repair for April 19th.

Mom had extended warranties on all 5 of her Sears appliances. The parts and labor for the fix is equvalent to the fee for this appliance until November 2020; so its paid for itself. Jacob also said the plan Mom paid for provides a free annual check-up for each covered appliance; during the check-up they can spot problems and replace worn parts so we won't have any down time when something fails. I will be scheduling those free annual maintenance checks.
Jacob had a tattoo on his right forearm; he said it is the only one of his 7 tattoos that is visible. This one has a dual meaning; it can mean fighting for the causes one believes in as well as lost love.
After Jacob left I took a nap. I really needed that nap; I woke up about 2 hours later. It felt really good! Curtis texted to let me know Dad was sleeping most of the time and wasn't eating, he was only drinking the Boost Breeze. Both his temperature and blood pressure were good. Curtis had the Hawaian Chuck Roast with gravy for lunch; he said it was good.

By the way, when I checked the freezer about dinner time, it was freezing water again both at the back and front of the freezer. Once it is frozen solid I will put a coin on top of the ice to see how long it is defrosting between the time the "Er dH" error message comes on and when I find it the next morning.
According to the news tonight, it appears that the explosion yesterday was triggered by a 6-year old child playing with a lighter. The child accidentally lighted a paper on fire, panicked and put it in a drawer which caught on fire. The fire then caused the oxygen tanks to explode. The child, his mother, and grandmother got out of the unit before the tanks exploded and were uninjured. The manager & assistant manager were checking on the source of the smoke and were the ones injured.
Happy Birthday to Brian!
