Last night Shiro came up behind Xander and started cleaning the top of his head. Xander did not appreciate the new hairdo.

We are not amused. |
This morning I found that another of the orchid blossoms opened; it's number 5. And also the last one on the stalk; the wind had blown the plant over and a slug ate the last 3 buds.
|
I put a clay pot on top of the pot to weight it down. |

Slug-damaged bud and bare stalk. |
Just before dinner it started to rain with very large drops. But it was still sunny.

More liquid sunshine! |
Last week I picked up something to add to the emergency food supply; it said "just add water". But after getting it home and reading more it won't be appropriate as apocalypse food; it requires a microwave (3.5 to 4 minutes on High) or at least a source of hot water. And it had a "Best By" date of April 2018. Things that don't require cooking and have a fairly long shelf life are preferable. This will be the "need to make something fast for Dad" food.

The microwave clip art in the upper right should have been a clue. |

The finished product. |
Shiro spent some time checking out Dad's bedroom while he was eating dinner.

Shiro was stalking a flying bug. |
I forgot to mention that Dad's vital signs on Tuesday were all very good. And his weight is up to 139.4 pounds. Back in September 2016 he was at 140 pounds and they said he had lost 10 pounds over the previous year; they said he needed to eat more and gain that weight back. Even with trying to get him to eat more, in January 2017 he had lost several more pounds. The dietician recommended using the Boost products; we started giving him the Breeze juices at breakfast & lunch and the Compact milk-type drink at dinner. We'll keep using the Boost products so he won't lose weight; hopefully he'll gain back the 10 pounds he lost.
Happy Birthday to Sally!
