Hoʻolaulea!

Jen & Susan graciously hosted a potluck at their home this afternoon. We went early to help them & Isaiah, Daphne, & Kyle set things up for the potluck. Jen & Susan provided Chicken Fajita fixings, Cowboy Caviar, & Calamansi Punch. Others brought green salad, stuffed peppers, dahl, fried chicken, other liquid refreshments, chips, & Bumbleberry Pie fom the Everett Farmers Market! Attendees included Marnie, Shabbir, Ruqqaya, David, Paul, Percy, Kai Chan, Jeannine, Janice, Mohammed, Eleta, Ananda, & Morgan. Jasper & Maple the dogs also had a great time greeting everyone. We met Jen & Susan about 21 years ago; we got to attend Isaiah's 1st birthday lūʻau! (Susan is from Kona.)

While helping Jen & Susan prepare for the potluck, I discovered a couple of cool tools. One is a can opener that propels itself around the top of the can as it cuts the lid off. The other was a small citrus squeezer that is a perfect fit for the calamansi! I think it would make preparing marmalade a lot easier.

An uninvited guest showed up at the potluck. This bug was walking around on one of the tables; no one knew what it was. A quick Google search yielded no clues. If you know what it is, please comment on this post.

Towards the end of the evening, I walked Eleta out to her car as I talked to her. I discovered she also has a Crosstrek. And it is also the same color! She bought it from Kai Chan & Percy after hers was stolen last December.

On Sunday, Kai's favorite coffee place in Everett is closed; he was forced to find another outlet for his daily dose of caffeine. I looked on my phone & found Woods Coffee; although it was not on the route to our destination for the day it seemed like it would have a better quality of coffee than those that were. Kai said the coffee quality is similar to Starbucks; not surprising since the rest of the vibe of the place was reminiscent of Starbucks.

Those are Kai's, my name is only on them since I paid.

My breakfast.
Why is there a photo of a volcano in this coffee shop?
Oh wait, it's a campfire not a volcano.

Speaking of volcanoes, there is no clear forecast of when the next episode at Kīlauea will begin. The daily update only says, "another episode is likely in the coming weeks." Can't really go wrong with that prediction.
