I stopped by Jessie's house this morning to let her know I was going to visit Kai in Seattle. She was feeding the feral chickens. I got to see most of them. Henrietta was not there; Jessie thinks she is sitting on a nest somewhere.

Fran picked me up shortly after that & we headed to the Kona airport for my flight to Seattle. For lunch I had pre-ordered the Northwest Deli Pack since all the hot meals were already taken. But during the meal service when I asked the flight attendant she said I had not pre-ordered it. I was sure I had since I had to enter all my credit card info & gotten a confirmation, but she said it was not on their list of pre-orders. Fortunately there were still packs available. Though I am not sure why they call it the Northwest Deli Pack since the chips are from Colorado rather than Tim's Cascade Chips, the almonds are from California, & the smoked Gouda spread is from Wisconsin rather than from one of the cheese places in Skagit County north of Seattle. Only the crackers & Almond Roca had a northwest location.

Kai picked me up from the airport; it was a very hectic scene. And a rather rude lady parked her SUV in the vacant space in front of me & waited for her friend to arrive. After about 15 minutes with no one showing up an airport police officer walked by; I told him how long she had been sitting there. He told her she could not park & wait, so she moved on. But only about 50 feet! Auē! On the positive side, Kai did bring me dinner - a bánh mì from District 1, his favorite bánh mì place. That's where he also had dinner on his way to the airport.

| He forgot to tell them no jalapeños. |
We went to Karen's house which is about 15 minutes from the airport. It's very convenient since it was after 10 pm when we left the airport & it would be about 1&1/2 hours more to drive to the house where Kai was house sitting. Before I left my house to go to the airport, I had gotten an early morning text from Karen; she sent me the door code since they would not be home. Rei's SAT test would be in Bremerton early the next morning & rather than having Rei get up extra early & catch the ferry to Bremerton they decided to stay overnight in Bremerton tonight so Rei could get plenty of rest & be relaxed & ready for the test tomorrow morning.

In the morning, before I packed up my laptop, I checked for activity at Kīlauea; it looked promising. I texted Marilyn & Michael a screenshot & said, "Looks like it was sputtering throughout the night. Getting larger, then smaller again. Keep an eye on it today. If it starts to overflow vent it is likely to start fountaining in 6 to 8 hours." I also told them I would be on a plane shortly & unable to check more today.
When I turned my phone on again in Seattle, I had a pleasant surprise. It was a couple of photos from Marilyn & a message, "We made it! Again, it was such a pleasure meeting you! You are so kind and helpful! Thank you! 😀 " I had met them at Lapakahi on Tuesday & told them about the episodic eruptions & had been watching things for them.
