I stopped at the post office on the way back from Lapakahi today & picked up 2 of the boxes of books that I mailed back to myself from Washington in August. I think I have another 3 boxes of books in Kai's storage unit. There are a lot of community announcements posted on the bulletin board outside the post office. And today there was one about a Māla Kalo Workshop! Which is exactly what I need! I am growing my kalo in a māla not a loʻi, which is what people usually think of when they think about growing kalo. I plan on going to the workshop.
As I was getting ready to go to Lapakahi this morning, out of the corner of my eye I noticed something running through Jessie's back yard. It was too low to the ground to be a chicken. Or even a cat. It was a mongoose! There were no chickens in the back yard so I think it was only passing through.
The next episode of the eruption at Kīlauea is anticipated to start some time between the 28th & the 1st.
Hauʻoli lā Hānau e Naomi & Roxanne!
