Waimea Laundry Day

We are again under an emergency water restriction; Hāwī Well #2 is now apparently out. (It apparently went out the evening I returned. I believe I heard it was Hāwī Well #1 that was out last month.) Apparently there is a problem with pump parts that are under warranty & there is an issue with the company supplying replacements in a timely manner. So the community suffers in the mean time. Which means I had to go to Waimea to do laundry again.

But the timing worked out OK. The well went out the morning of the day I returned. I knew I needed to be in Waimea today for my PT appointment with Jacob so I just collected all the laundry & prepared for a big laundry day; I still had not washed the quilts on the beds Kai & Tomiko used due to the previous well outage! I did them today.

When I was done with laundry & leaving Waimea, I stopped in at the food trucks parked at the entrance of Church Row. I was originally going to try their Navajo Taco Salad, but got a BLTA Sammie instead from Hawaii Lava Scones. They apparently make the tacos with a Navajo Frybread recipe they found on the Internet; I'll try that next time. While there I met Luana who was getting the LavaBites Lilinoe Lilikoi; she had been at the Kohala Night Market bon odori last night!

Here's a photo of 3 of the cats at the LaLaHome water fountain. As you can see it is larger than usual water fountains for cats. The 2 tanks hold enough water for them for 10 days. I filled it the day I left, then refilled it the day I returned & it still had enough water for another flush. And 4 of them could drink from it at the same time if they wanted to. I've never seen that, 3 is the most I've seen at one time.

Hurricane Kiko is about 1360 miles east-southeasterly of Hilo, moving westerly at abut 9 mph. As anticipated, the maximum sustained winds have decreased to 125 mph, reducing Kiko to a Category 3 hurricane. Scientists expect a slight increase in strength over the next day, followed by a decrease in strength. Currently, hurricane force winds extend out about 25 miles, with tropical storm force winds extending out about 80 miles.

I forgot to get a screen shot of the HVO's summary about Kīlauea this morning. But its basically the same as yesterday.

Hauʻoli lā Hānau e Michael & Jeremiah! A me ka Hauʻoli lā Hoʻomanaʻo makahiki iwakālua e Karin & Thomas!
