If you stopped watching the livecam like I did last night around 10:15, then got up after 7:15 or so this morning, you would have missed all of Episode 34. It was very short. I found out it was erupting about 3 this morning, when I got up use the bathroom; when it is in the precursory phase I always check the livecams before I go back to sleep.

Here are the official releases about Episode 34.
Mildly concerning is the introductory paragraph that started the regular daily update that was issued later in the morning. We'll have to see what impact the Federal government shutdown has on the monitoring at the volcano.

The morning started with a beautiful sunrise. But later in the day there was a brief downpour. Moʻo wisely took shelter on the front porch; she had just enough space to stay out of the rain under the eaves.

The new neighbor across the street, texted me about 2 weeks ago, complaining about Moʻo barking in the middle of the night. "Your dog was barking excessively last night and it severely affected my sleep. Some barking is normal, but excessive noise is requires [sic] addressing. Were you home? What can I do to help you?" I apologized, letting her know I let Moʻo out for her last potty break when I take a shower so could not hear her barking. Turns out, it wasn't Moʻo; the neighbor said she heard the dog at 3 in the morning when Moʻo is asleep in the house. So we have been trying to figure out whose dog it is. This morning when my alarm went off at 6:30 I heard a very insistent, yappy dog barking! The high-pitched yapping lasted for about 10 minutes, but after about a 5 minute lull it started back up again. Thankfully it stopped several minutes later. I've heard that dog yapping before both day & night; it lives on the property immediately uphill of Uncle Raymond who is the last of the plantation houses.
I texted the neighbor as soon as I heard the dog yapping, she said that dog doesn't bother her because, "I'd like to clarify that I am not personally disturbed by the dogs barking on the farm lots above the residential subdivision. My concern is specifically about dogs barking frequently within the residential area at night between 11 PM and 5 AM as this disturbs people's sleep." Apparently since that dog lives outside of the row of old plantation houses it doesn't bother her even with its incessant high-pitched yapping. I don't think I can help Barking Dog Woman find the dog that woke her up at 3 in the morning. FYI It's not a farm dog, it just lives on a large residential property immediately uphill of the old plantation houses.
