I had originally intended to leave on Thursday or Friday, but I saw Cheryl about 2 weeks ago at a Neighborhood Watch meeting & she told me about her husband Shawn's memorial that was today. Since I had not yet made my reservations, & Cheryl did so much for Uncle Kazu when he was in the assisted living portion of Kohala Hospital, I decided to delay my trip a few days to help support Cheryl. It was a very nice memorial. And like nearly all events like this in North Kohala, the food was excellent!

| There was a whole lot more food than this at the buffet. |
I sat across from Suzannah & her husband Nick; their adult son Ben was also there. I had originally met Suzannah a year ago at Joey's Coconut Celebration at Kēokēa Beach Park. I also ran in to them earlier this year at the
Kohala Reunion. And Suzannah was at
Wendy's book reading about 2 weeks ago. She said she wants to invite Wendy & me over to their house in a couple months when things settle down for everyone.
I stopped at the St. Augustine Bazaar before I went to the memorial. I needed to pick up another stalk of purple sugar cane. The pieces I got last year were doing well ... until Moʻo decided that they would be nice "sticks" to chew on & dug them up! On my way in to the bazaar I saw a flattened cane toad (Rhinella marina, formerly Bufo marinus); it has been years since I've seen one, dead or alive. While at the bazaar I also saw the salsa & marmalade that the canning hui made! Yes, I was walking through the food section; but I did not buy anything since I am flying out tomorrow.

I missed the sunrise snapshot. I was a little too focused on the things on my phone. By the time I took a photo the sun was well up in the sky & lighting everything up! It was a very sunny day!

I usually do some Duolingo just after my alarm goes off if it is not a day with an early start. This morning Duo showed up in my email feed. Trying to encourage me to keep up my practicing; which I try to do regardless of Duo's efforts. Traveling makes it difficult for me to do a lot of lessons so I will likely get demoted over the next week.
I also make a quick check of my email while lying in bed. Today I found a bunch of stuff from Experian telling me how I could "save big" by taking out a personal loan at a lower interest rate than the credit card with the $3500 balance. The joke is on them; I get an even bigger savings by staying within my means & paying the entire balance off each month!
The next episode of the eruption at Kīlauea is still noted as being likely about 2 weeks away.
Hauʻoli lā Hānau e Cathy, Ilsa, & Ananda!
