Tropical Storm Nolo is now about 285 miles southerly of Ka Lae & at 5 am was stationary with maximum sustained winds at 60 mph. It is forecast to begin moving northerly later today & also strengthen, becoming a hurricane by tonight & a major hurricane by the weekend. Currently, tropical storm force winds extend out about 90 miles from the center. Aunty Jeanne is arriving from California in about 7 hours, if Nolo was going to affect her flight, she would have contacted me by now to let me know it had been cancelled. I have not heard anything about my flight on Friday, but I think it will not be affected since Nolo is not expected to be at its closest to us until early Saturday morning.
The disturbance about 1000 miles east-southeasterly of us, that is mainly in the Eastern Pacific region, has been given only a 30% chance of becoming a tropical depression. It is also generally moving in a northeasterly direction so should not become a problem for us.
Hurricane Odalys continues to move away from us. Although slight strengthening is expected later today, the overall forecast is for it to become a tropical storm by the weekend.
