More Fallout

Apparently the surprise visit by the senators last week has caused a lot of flack. Unfortunately people are still saying there are no contact tracers; I wish some real information comes out clarifying the difference between the investigators and the contact tracers. Everyone is calling for more contact tracers when the real bottleneck is actually the investigators; it will take a lot more training & background for someone to become an investigator than it does to become a contact tracer. I have not heard of any ongoing training to get more of them. The UH has now trained about 440 contact tracers & that doesn't count our cohort; about 40 from the 1st cohort started last week.

I spent most of the day writing another paper; I have now completed all the current homework for both Dr. C's & Dr. Ric's classes. And I have about a week before I need to start working on the next set of papers. So for the next week I am planning on completing the Johns Hopkins contact tracer training class; it's supposed to take about 6 hours to complete.

The disturbance is now about 700 miles south of us and moving westerly at about 10 mph. It still remains at 60% chance of becoming a tropical depression over the next 5 days. Tropical Depression Ten-E fizzled out last night. Further to the east in the Eastern Pacific region Tropical Depression Fausto has formed and is moving northwesterly at about 17 mph. It is expected to dissipate by Monday so it probably won't make it in to the Central Pacific region.

The jail continues to be in the news with their COVID-19 outbreak. Inmates as well as guards are getting upset about the conditions.

There were 220 new COVID-19 cases reported today; we now have over 5,000 known positive cases. There were 3 more hospitalizations bringing that total up to 283. About 58% of the ICU beds in the state are currently in use; of those 35 are occupied by COVID-19 patients. There were about 2600 tests reported today with a positivity rate of about 8.3%. The number of cases that have been released from isolation has dropped to 37%.
