The 2nd batch of building materials arrived this morning. It included the roofing material and planks for building the bookshelves. It is being stored on the front lawn next to the previous delivery. There should be 1 more delivery for the cabinets in the Cat Genie room.

Pallet will be removed later.

Chris with new materials.

Emily also came to mow today. Since the building materials cover only part of the front lawn & Chris was gone for lunch; she was able to use her riding mower over much of the open areas. She used her weed eater in the other places where it was a little long in the front yard.

Moʻo did not like being tied by garage while lawn was being mowed; she wanted to run around.

While we were waiting for the materials delivery, Chris removed the shelf inside the sewing room. After the delivery, he worked on setting the 2 footings for the deck. We also talked about the deck on the east side of the room; I originally wanted it at 4' wide but that would mean removing one of the hapuʻu. Instead Chris will create a cut-out in that area so the deck is only 3'6" wide by the hapuʻu so it can remain; the rest of the deck will be 4' wide. I also realized I need another reference point for the stairs that will be coming down from the deck.

One of footings for deck is seen here; hapuʻu at back right is one near deck.
|
 |
This is reference Point F, looking westerly at location where stairs will be.

Although I don't have asthma or any other respiratory condition, I am feeling the affects of the emissions from the volcano. My throat has been scratchy & my bronchi are occasionally slightly congested; I know others who are also feeling the vog. I can't even imagine how much it is affecting people with asthma, like my neighbor Jessie. Even when the eruption is paused, there are gases that are given off by the vents. My vet says she has been seeing many cats whose asthma has been triggered by the vog. Glad I don't live southwest of Kīlauea! Here's the vog forecast for this afternoon. FYI Even though we might not be able to see or smell the vog at this end of the island it is still affecting us.
Kīlauea remains paused but glow from the vents & overturning crustal plates indicate the lava is still close to the surface.
Hauʻoli lā Hānau e Maki-san!
