Cabinets Now Here

The cabinets for the Cat Genie room arrived early this morning. Tyson was able to set them just inside the garage to keep them out of the weather. Later Chris & Spencer took them off the pallet & moved them further in so that I could still park the car in the garage in the evening.

I'm glad the roof is on & most of the sheathing was on; it rained a lot last night & early this morning.  I did not see signs of much water entering the interior of the space. I think that was because there was hardly any wind last night. If there had been much it would have been wetter since prevailing winds are from the northeast, which is the open side of the space.

Today they finished with the exterior sheathing & installation of all the windows. Chris is unavailable tomorrow, so work will start up again on Monday. In the meantime, the forecast is for more rain over the weekend.

I guess this isn't such a bad reference point after all.
This one is a little too close, but there is a fence stopping me from moving farther away.

While I was waiting for the cabinet delivery, I saw RN Carolyn walking up the hill. She said she only walks on her days off which are today & tomorrow. She stopped & I introduced her to Moʻo; who was a good girl then, but barked at RN Carolyn when she was on her way back down the hill. 🙄

I joined the Kohala Community Land Trust today. Their mission is to provide permanently affordable housing for Kohala residents. The KCLT is a non-profit that will buy properties, then resell the building but retain title to the land in perpetuity in a land trust that is controlled by members of the KCLT. By only selling the building, the price for housing becomes more affordable. The community land trust model has been used in the US to provide affordable housing for at least 50 years; there are also international versions of CLTs. The KCLT 1st annual membership meeting is next week; they are encouraging people to become a member before hand so more of the meeting can be focused on what they will be doing & how they will do it. Voting membership is open to all full-time North Kohala residents over the age of 18; non-residents & part-time residents may also join as supporting, non-voting members.

I was able to get a better picture of Roger & his flock this morning. The hens seem to trust people less than Roger does. But they do seem to go to Jessie's back door every morning to see what she has put out for them to eat.

I finally saw the cows! As I was bringing Moʻo in for the evening I heard a sound & looked over to see several of them eating the long grass in the pasture on the other side of Jessie's back yard. There were 6 of them there; I could not see them well enough to know whether any were ones I used to see before.

There was another black cow behind tall grass on left.

Kīlauea's eruptive Episode 5 is now over; it ended about 4:30 this morning. Yes, this is the one that started yesterday at about 3 pm; which is why I tell people to go & see it as soon as you hear it is erupting. This one apparently lasted for only about 13 hours (the math is incorrect in the status report).
