We did less than yesterday; today we entered only 904 vaccine doses in VAMS. Things went very smoothly today and we were very eagerly awaiting the onslaught of forms since we were told there were 1250 appointments available today & the eligible organizations were sending out the word to have their people vaccinated. The 1st 2 hours we were doing about 200 forms per hour which would have put us at 1200 by the end of the clinic day. Then it began to slow down. By the end of the day we were averaging about 140 forms/hour. It sounds like other vaccine PODs on the island had similar lighter loads today; they are now looking at opening the open PODs up to people 70 years and older beginning next Monday. Previously it was limited to people 75 years & older.
The "rejections" are contraindicated for vaccination so we don't enter them. |
Right now it appears we have been doing a similar number of vaccinations at the LCC POD as the other sites run by medical staff. The Hawaii Pacific Health vaccine center at Pier 2 is doing about 1300 per day; our highest day was 1100 but we are now set up to do between 1250 and 1500 per day. HPH says it can expand to do up to 5000 per day.
I left 15 minutes earlier this morning so I could get there earlier than the other Data Entry volunteers; I wanted to pick up forms so Alicia could start the training as soon as possible. On the way to LCC I ran in to a traffic jam as soon as I got on the freeway. Auē! Fortunately I always give myself a few minutes extra time when driving.
Yesterday I forgot to mention that I work with some awesome people! Last week there was a discussion about how the mouse did not work well on the slick desk tops and there needed to be a mouse pad at each data entry station. Alicia called the Supply Team but mouse pads was not something they had. So over the weekend Monica & Gerald ordered mouse pads via Amazon & brought them in for the Data Entry team!

FYI The rocks seem to be breeding! Last week we started out with about half a dozen rocks. Since they are a hot item with the wind being so blustery lately, we hid them in the bottom of one of the Data Entry boxes so they wouldn't disappear. Now we have about a dozen of them! The rocks are useful even at the computer stations; we leave the doors open and there are fans in both rooms so there is a higher air exchange rate than there would be if all the doors were closed. Which also means the gust blow in from time to time, all the stations closest to the doors have a rock as a necessary item.
Lunch today was from a different place; it was from Big City Dinner! I donʻt remember having lunch from them before. There vegetarian meal was like a fancy salad; it had strips of portobello mushrooms. I still think I want more protein if I am going to use it as a plant-based replacement for one of my meals.
I started tracking my walking about an hour & a half in to the task so the route map is missing some distance & time data. Then I forgot to turn it off before I headed to the car; the single track off to the right is the walk to the car. The other runners today were Rachel & Misty; one of them had a little problem with adding numbers. It's a good thing we are now keeping a tally sheet so we can double check the numbers as the day progresses.
I stopped at Kokua on the way home, this morning I got an email saying there was going to be home-made chicken mole at the deli! But, similar to the last time there was something I thought I might really like, it was all gone by the time I got there. Other people had the same idea. So I had left over Vegetable Coconut Curry & chicken from yesterday's Kokua shopping for dinner.
Apparently they do not erase things once they are gone. |
It looks like the orchid that Calvin gave us as a thank you present is getting ready to bloom again; last time it bloomed was about 18 months ago. At least, I think this is the one from Calvin, I'll know for sure when it opens. He gave us one with yellow petals surrounding a pinkish purple lip. I never did get around to taking it to the Kohala house; may be I will do that in May when Sarah & Kaia are here.
The Aix weather app forecast precipitation through midafternoon; that didn't happen. It was sunny & still blustery.

During this week's LG Update the LG; he is predicting by the end of March we will begin vaccinating people 65 & older. According to the LG, about 50,000 vaccinations are being done each week; which means the LCC POD contributes about 8% of the weekly number.
There were only 20 new cases of COVID-19 reported today, bringing the total of known cases to 27,640. There were 2 new deaths reported so the death toll is now 441. the 7-day average of new cases on Oʻahu is 22 with a 0.9% positivity rate. But the really big news today is that 5,900 doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, that received FDA Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) just a couple of days ago, was received today; since it can be stored at normal refrigerator temperatures and requires only 1 shot it is a game-changer.
