I went on an exploratory hike led by Boyd, along with Becky & Suzie. We went to Greenbank, the Wight family estate next door to Hālawa Camp where I spent my summers with my grandparents. The Wight mansion is no longer there but the cemetery still is; the property is now owned by the State Historic Preservation Division. When I pulled up to Boyd & Becky's place, I saw 3 feral pigs at the end of the road playing by the pasture gate. Throughout our hike through the pasture & near the Wight estate, we saw a lot of places where the pigs had rooted around & destroyed things.

As we walked through the Wight estate & the cemetery, I was texting with my friend Ken who lives in Washington state. In the 1980's Ken lived at the caretaker's cottage on the Wight estate when it was privately owned & had shared a story with me many years ago about the Night Marchers & other supernatural experiences he had at Greenbank. I sent him a couple photos & he told us even more about things he saw & heard while there; one of the things he shared even local historian Boyd was unaware of.

While at Greenbank, during one of the periods when they wi-fi was spotty & I could not text photos to Ken; Lowe's managed to get an email to me! It was another reminder to pick up the water heater isolation valve; the one they told me they would hold until the 12th & also the one that Jordan said to ask them to hold it longer if the actual heater does not look like it will show up on the date it is currently telling me it will arrive. I think Lowe's may be annoyed I haven't picked it up yet; they have now changed the pick up date to be a day earlier. I must now pick it up by the 11th.

When I was talking to Aunty Judy on Sunday; she mentioned that she just heard about the Kohala ʻĀina book & was wondering where she might get a copy. (On-line sources show it is out of print.) I told her I would find out; later I confirmed with Kathy that they still had copies at the North Kohala Community Resource Center. Today I picked up a copy of it for her; it will be her early birthday gift! (Her birthday is in May.) There is a hand-drawn map of Hālawa Camp in the book that has the houses labelled with the family names; the hoses for both my grandparents & great-grandparents are shown on the map.

When I returned from all my errands, I was in the front yard untangling Moʻo & filling up her water bowl. Arlene came by & asked if she could have 3 ripe calamansi; Joy had a bad sore throat & a cold & had been dealing with it for about a week already. Later I stopped by their house with a small jar of salted calamansi for Joy. Jessie swears that calamansi, fresh or salted, is good at getting rid of sore throats & colds. Kai tried it once when he had a sore throat; he said it got rid of it quite quickly!
For dinner I tried the Immi Black Garlic "Chicken". This time I added the sauce packet to the water & boiled the noodles in the flavored water. It tasted better but the noodles were still a little chewier than I like them. Will boil them for 5 minutes next time; hopefully the extra boiling time will soften the noodles up more & make them absorb more flavor.

Yesterday, as I was driving back from Waimea, Kai called. He is house, cat, & dog sitting for Anne & Mary Kay. And Koda had been licking & biting a patch on his back & it had started to bleed but did not seem to be infected; Koda was still active & engaged. Today it was looking worse & Koda was even less energetic than his
usual low-key self. Kai contacted the emergency vet; he sent them
photos. They said it was not emergency-level yet; they advised him to go
to a pet store & get wound cleaner for dogs & a cone collar, so
he did that. Koda was not too happy about either, but seemed to
understand that it was helping him. He has an appointment with Koda's vet for tomorrow.

FYI Chris was not working at the house today. He was creating a new door at the Naito Store down at the bottom of the hill.
The eruption at Kīlauea is stile on pause. Today the status report also came out a little later than usual.
