Nipped in the Bud? Not!

I went to check those iris buds I took a photo of yesterday morning to see if any were blooming & got a big surprise. All of them had apparently bloomed later in the day yesterday, probably when it got hotter. They are all shriveled up today & the shriveled flower from yesterday has fallen off cleanly like the one I thought was nipped off by a slug or snail. Sorry snails & slugs for making you out to be the bad guys! It was just Mother Nature!

I went to Sunshine True Value Hardware today; Saturdays are Senior Discount day. I needed to pick up a quart of brown paint to match the exterior doors for Chris. He will be building me a plantation-style door with a movable panel that covers a screened area that lets breezes in. I was unable to find a color chip that matched it, so Bill put it on their color matching machine & mixed up a quart. The color match was uncanny! Can you tell where he put the test patch on this piece below? (Answer in tomorrow's post.)

I also asked them about carrying the Terro Garbage Guard, the one I ordered from Amazon came in yesterday & I immediately attached it to the lid of Moʻo's puppy poop rubbish can. It will last for 4 months, but I decided to start asking now so it will be in by the time I need it. Sunshine does not carry it & Bill said he had never seen it before, but he will look in to it.

I took photos of the ice plant flowers; the light pink, pink, & purple are in bloom right now. The pink & purple look almost alike, but the "purple" is a little more "neon" than the pink. The color does not seem to have intensified with more sun exposure like the light pink flower did

Light pink. "White" one on right will become "light pink" after couple days of sun.
Pink.
Purple. Stems are darker than on "pink" one.

Just after lunch I got another email from Lowe's about picking up the heater. But they have now changed they date I need to pick it up by; it is now the 19th! They said if I don't pick it up by the 19th, they will send it back! Auē! So I called & after being given the runaround I was finally able to have someone say they will make a note that I will pick it up on the 20th.

Have you ever noticed how much animals sleep? All the cats & Moʻo spend a lot of time sleeping. Both during the day & at night. Here is ferocious watchdog Moʻo conserving her energy so she can let people with bad intentions know she will make a lot of noise! (I have never heard her growl at anyone but I have seen her bark a lot with her hackles up.)

The eruption at Kīlauea is still on pause. The potential window for the next phase has now been amended to be sometime over the next 1 to 4 days.
