Chris & Spencer put up the gutter along the section of roof that overhangs the area where the stairs will go from the room down to the anthurium garden. The gutters will eventually be connected to the pipe that carries the water from the washer, laundry sink, & garage shower out to the kalo ditch. I guess it would be the ʻauwai kalo. The only existing gutters on the house are over the ramp to the front door so people don't get soaked when they have to walk under the edge of the eaves. That's the same reason for the new gutters, the water from the eaves would come down on anyone using the stairs.

They also started setting up the deck along the east side of the room. It is mainly 4' wide but where it is by the hapuʻu the deck is reduced to about 3'6" wide so the hapuʻu can remain in place. I had originally only envisioned a landing right outside the door to access the stairs down to the anthurium garden but later decided to pay a little extra to have a deck along that side so I can enjoy sitting out there in the morning sun with the cats ... if they will allow me to join them.
All the building materials have now been removed from the front lawn. They are either part of the construction or under the the house & out of the weather. Some of the grass looks dead, other parts are struggling but looks like it might come back.
Beginning around 4 this morning Lowe's sent me a couple of emails telling me my order was being processed. It looks like the laundry sink was shipped today & the vent parts will be delivered next week Thursday.
In the morning Boyd & I finished dismantling the last side of the 2nd crate. We are now almost done with removing the metal staples. Then we need to organize all the pieces & also move the pieces of old wood Chris sorted out for us for use in constructing the Front Porch. That will be at another time since Boyd had a Zoom meeting he needed to attend. When he left, Moʻo had to race along the fence with him.

After Boyd left, I went to Waimea to return the 14/3 wire that was sent to us by mistake & pick up the correct 12/2 wire that is needed. I also picked up some 10/3 wire to hook up the demand water heater for the Cat Genie room. On the way back I stopped at Jam Pot to pick up a fresh-pressed juice; I usually get the Immunity. Today I tried the Vitality; it is like carrot juice with a little kick. I would get it again.
There is an area near the scenic point on the Kohala Mountain Road that looks like they are reforesting the pasture. I have been watching it for about a year. I will have to stop & take photos from a stationary point so I can show you the progress over time.
In the interest of making things easier on everyone, I have decided to name the office/study/library/studio after its primary occupants. Because, in the end, the cats will be using it 24/7; unlike me who will only be in there temporarily to use my office or read books in the library or set up my studio area to paint. So it will now be referred to as the Lumi Pōpoki aka Cat Room. They already have a Welcome banner attached to the cat gate that will be the entrance to their domain. I got that in December 2022, which is why it sort of has a Christmas vibe.

Moʻo has outdone herself. Today she managed to get a chunk of 4" x 4" tangled up in her tie out cable. She snagged it just right!

Huh??? |
There is a white iris growing through the weeds near the edge of the renovation area that is blooming! It is quite tenacious; I will have to get out there & clear the weeds out before they kill it or some one inadvertently mows the clump down since they can't tell that it is there. I also discovered that the blue iris that Libby gave me has set 2 buds so will be blooming soon.
Immi says my order is on its way! They're showing my delivery address as HI and they didn't ask me for any more money to send it here. Hūlō!
The eruption at Kīlauea is still paused. But the Status Report email came out around noon so I think they though it might start erupting again.
