Hapuna

I went to Dane's office in Hapuna this morning.  We were supposed to start sorting the archeological artifacts found at Kukuipahu this past season. But Tracy called in sick this morning so Dane & I just discussed other projects he would like help on.

One will be to develop a larger version of the Junior Ranger booklet. He showed me examples of the one for Diamond Head State Park & the ʻōhiʻa booklet. Right now the booklet for Lapakahi is just a black & white photocopy on plain old copier paper.

Since Tracy wasn't there I left about 12:30. I stopped by Puʻu Koholā National Historical Park to get more information about the Hoʻokuʻikahi Establishment Day Cultural Festival. Pablo said like last year it will be a very small private ceremony at the heiau but there will be a couple weeks of free classes at the visitor center on different crafts before & after the ceremony day. They are keeping it low key so they do not become a super-spreader event! He gave me the name of the person coordinating the events. I will contact Hana then forward the info to Dane.

I also stopped at Lapakahi to water the lāʻī. As I was leaving, Dane was coming in! I told him what I was able to find out so far about the Hoʻokuʻikahi  & I would send him updates.

When I got home I took a short nap before going out to pick a bunch of calamansi. I won't have time to pick any tomorrow morning before I have to leave for Hapuna & I want to drop some off for Maya at the Kohala Food HUB. They collect produce on Tuesdays for nā kūpuna baskets that they give out on Wednesdays.

Laptop Repair Timeline

I went to Mac Made Easy in Hilo today & dropped off the laptop. I got a call later from the technician confirming the screen is bad. It will have to be sent off Island so it will be 7 to 10 days before I get it back. Posts will be minimal in the meanwhile.

While in Hilo I visited with Aunty Doris & Uncle Tom. They're slowing down a little but still going. We had bento from Puka Puka Cafe for lunch; they are not leaving the house for much during this latest BA.5 surge in COVID-19.

Quarantine Day #3

Counting the 17th as the day I was exposed to COVID-19, today is Day #3 of quarantine. It was a long day. I started with the travel version of a proothie. I fill a small Skippy Peanut Butter jar up with soy milk to the 1 cup line I marked on it then add 1/8 tsp of stevia, 1 tsp spirulina powder, & 2 scoops of protein powder. Shake for 1 minute, then drink. I was supposed to have lunch with Tricia today, then help her with packing boxes & moving them to her new place. Obviously that didn't happen. Instead, I watched videos. I started with 1 episode of The Witcher, then a couple episodes of The Blacklist. I had heard about Stranger Things & it sounded interesting so I watched a couple episodes of that; I added it to my watch list. To lighten things up, I also watched a couple episodes of The Good Place. For lunch & dinner I searched through the food I had left in the freezer. There's still quite a lot. I had a ham & egg hot pocket for lunch and plant-based nuggets for dinner. Evan & Kaia called in the afternoon to wish me a Happy Belated Birthday. They were on their way to help Evan's dad who just injured his leg; he has a torn meniscus. As soon as The Roommates came home I retreated to my bedroom. It was a long & tedious day. Hau'oli la Hanau e Lawrence, Herbert, & Andy!
