More Tuesday Happenings

On my way back from the surge testing yesterday I stopped at Don Quijote; I was going to pick up more hand sanitizer for Kai and Hawaiian print face masks to send out to friends. But there was a long line of people waiting to get in; I think they were limiting the number of people inside at one time. I was also going to pick up some lunch. Instead I went to the Iron Grill lunch truck parked near the parking garage; there was no line there.

The lunch truck, (L to R) Chef Sang & Shannon.

The menu.
My lunch.

The salmon I got from Iron Grill was excellent! And its only a few blocks away from the Convention Center. Since I can text in my order, if I get hired as a contact tracer, during the 2 week training at the Convention Center I think I will get my lunch at Iron Grill!

Salmon with broccoli, onions, & mushrooms and extra salad instead of rice.

While waiting for my lunch, as well as when I was waiting in line for the COVID-19 test, I was on Duolingo. It was a little rough both times because I had forgotten my reading glasses. In fact, at the test site, I had to ask the woman helping me which was the right end of the swab wrapper to open because I could not see well enough to know!

The pulse oximeters arrived today; I got 3. The purple one is for Lori to use on her mom & the rest of their household; one of the others is for The Roommates to keep in their bathroom. And the last one is for my bathroom. And I also got an infrared thermometer for my bathroom; there is another thermometer in The Roommates' bathroom already. Dr. Ric says to test our blood oxygen level every day; it should be at 95% or higher.

Not sure why my pulse was so high; it went back to normal shortly after the photo.

If the blood oxygen level drops to 90%, Dr. Ric says to check with your doctor; your doctor will let you know what to do based on your health condition. Dr. Ric said you can look fine below 90% but something is going on and you should be checked to find out why your blood oxygen level has dropped. Below 75% you start to get organ damage and should really be in the hospital!

Grey and Arka Kinari reached Indonesia this morning (our time)! Grey arrived on the Big Island from Mexico in mid-March after finding out they would not be able to resupply in the Marshall Islands since the country was closed to everyone including residents trying to return. He met up with the boat in Hilo in early April where the crew had to do a 14-day quarantine even though they had been at sea for 30 days with no exposure. After resupplying, they left Hawai'i at the end of May, hoping to make the crossing in 6 weeks. But along the way, they had to make an emergency stop in Guam for repairs; because of COVID-19 getting permission to stop there was also difficult. They are near the end of their journey, Bali is their intended destination.
