The West is on Fire!

This afternoon some family from Washington, California, and here were texting; don't worry, all the aunties are doing fine. We were just keeping in touch virtually. When Scott asked Myrt if the smoke was affecting her in LA, I sent them the photo Kai sent me yesterday, which started a sharing of photos of the horrendous air quality.

Scott had started things off by sharing photos of their summer. Aunty Daisy was looking good and so was Wakana. Scott also sent some photos of Momo but none of himself.

Myrt said Aunty Michi is doing fine. Besides the smoke photos Aunty Flo also sent photos of the Pacific tree frog who lives on her porch. Justine & Ursula have named it Simon.

I skipped the walk this morning, it was a combination of sleeping through my first alarm; then deciding not to rush around and get ready to walk since my knees were a little achy. I need to get out my new Hokas and see if that solves the problem.

LG Green is still feeling pretty good, he has a slight cough & fatigue. His blood oxygen was 98%. And he's still doing his FB Live posts from home.

There was a great article about Dr. Emily Roberson in the newspaper today. She is now in charge of the contact tracing for the department of health.

There were 114 new COVID-19 cases today brining the toal up to 10.700 known cases. Sadly there were 2 new deaths, bringing that total up to 99. There are now 7036 active cases, a little lower than yesterday and the first time that number has decreased since this spike in cases began.

The City & County of Honolulu has launched its own COVID-19 dashboard. I think a lot of organizations are getting annoyed at not having data in a transparent format that is easy to use. Most of their information is a repeat of what I am posting from the Hawaiʻi Data Collaborative so I wonʻt repeat it. I have posted a couple pages to show you what their website looks like. It is easier to see the data than on the DOH prototype dashboard.

This is the only site I have seen that lists testing sites.

Hauʻoli lā Hānau e Marcie, Sweet Danny Ray, Kathryn, Bryan, & Duane!
