Last Dentist Appointment

Today was my final dental appointment for 2021. The good news is that the deep pockets on the teeth next to where my wisdom teeth were removed are mainly now 3's, with one 4 and one 6 in the very back; it used to be a 9 so this is good news. The rest of my pockets are 1's and 2's. I also had Lori & Dr. Azuma check my molars on the lower right because when I brush my teeth I have slight sensation almost on the verge of pain there. It appears I have a fissure in the very back edge of that tooth; the new filling is holding the tooth together so I don't need to be concerned about it unless it gets worse. My homework is to eat a variety of things & pay attention to when it hurts. So hot things, cold things, & hard things.

They have a lot of COVID-19 related signs around the office. The first ones are on the door that you are asked to read before you enter. Then there are several in the waiting area. I like the one about mask wearing. The one about surfaces is a little misleading as well as out-of-date; it looks like it was published in January 2020. There is newer information out there about the transmission of SARS-CoV-2 from surfaces to people. For example, due to the number of people in our work area, surfaces at the LCC Data Entry Center were sprayed with disinfectant on Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday evenings, but they did not spray on Fridays. This is because we worked Tuesday through Friday & the recommendation is that disinfection is necessary for up to 24 hours after a COVID-19 positive person has been in the room. The Incident Management Team used a more conservative 48 hours as the guideline for when an area needed to be disinfected; since no one would be returning to the rooms for at least 80 hours, there was no need to spray the Data Entry Center on Fridays.

This one is now outdated.

On the way back, I stopped by Kokua Market to pick up more cottage cheese & Throat Coat Tea. I also got some non-critical things like another dozen eggs (we have six left), venison sausage, & a vegan style hot pocket.

I should check out the Saturday barbecue.
There used to be a pigeon here. It flew away.
Today's menu.

I also picked up some Coconut Curry and Beets & Sea Asparagus for lunch.

For dinner I sauteed one of the venison sausages & had it along with the curry and beet salad.

The Roommate Who Likes to Do Dishes got called back to work for an after hours emergency, so I fed the cats tonight; that confused them. However, Keala took it all in stride & finished her food off as she usually does. Luna finished about half her food & S'mores barely touched her food. I kept Luna & S'mores in their respective 'dining' rooms & left it to The Roommate Who Likes to Do Dishes to let them out when he returned.

I was a little late in checking the Aix weather app this morning so I donʻt know what it forecast for the morning & afternoon hours. For the evening here it forecast a light drizzle & we got that . For Kapaʻau it forecast a slightly heavier drizzle with accumulation; that was probably right since it usually drizzles in the evening plus Honomū recorded 0.02 inches by the evening. For Marysville it forecast partly cloudy skies; which looked like it was right.

Honomū looking northerly at 4:50 p.m.
Marysville looking southerly at 4:50 p.m. HST.

The surfing spots for the long weekend look like they will be along the south facing shores.

It has been a big issues with health care workers that the politicians are not being forceful enough about people following the distancing & masking rules over this upcoming holiday weekend. Today the politicians stepped up and said they were directing law enforcement to be more diligent with enforcement. I sure hope they do and there are big fines to go along; we need to get this surge under control so our health care system is not totally overwhelmed.

There has also been a concern about medical grade oxygen being available for all the medical facilities in the state. A month or so ago the 2 local plants switched over to only producing medical grade oxygen but even that was not going to be enough for the projections.

There were 865 new cases of COVID-19 reported today, bringing the total known cases up to 65,890. there were also 7 new deaths reported, making the death toll 613; currently 11,257 cases are considered active. As of yesterday 1,882,907 doses of vaccine have been administered making 63.8% of the population fully vaccinated; 72.1% have received at least one dose. The 7-day new case average for Oʻahu is 624 with a positivity rate of 8.3%.
