Carrier Transport

The Zoo had too many carriers which were getting in the way so Emma contacted me on Wednesday to see if I was going to Feather & Fur any time soon. I wasn't, but I told her I could take them today. They had 8 carriers; I was able to fit all of them into the Crosstrek. The trip and drop off was uneventful. And since it is a Fast Day, I did not stop at Kalapawai Cafe for something to eat.

The A/C did not go on this morning so the ambient temperature was below 72 degrees F. But since I didn't go out to the car immediately, I don't know what the actual temperature was this morning. 

The drive up the Pali this morning was actually quite pleasant. It was actually fairly sunny and dry. It was so nice there were also 2 bicyclists on the road with all the cars. I saw the 1st one just as I was entering the 1st of the tunnels. I passed the 2nd one in the 1st of the curves; he later zipped past the cars at the 1st intersection.

I did stop at Times on the way back, however; I needed soy milk. I forgot to soak my soybeans last night; I realized I would be unable to make any today so I bought some instead. I also got a couple pieces of Furikake Salmon for dinner tonight and tomorrow night.

On the way out the door this morning I found a bunch of roaches at the garage door. Two were dead, one was still somewhat alive. I wonder why I am finding so many roaches lately?

I saw a pair of rather dumb Zebra Doves this afternoon. They were sitting on the top of the wall of the cat run. Near the perch that Keala likes to sit on. Fortunately for them, Keala was asleep. In the house.

The largest orchid blossom is starting to open up. It also is starting to show some color.

The Aix weather app showed a lot of rain beginning around 8 am and continuing throughout the day. For the most part it was sunny and dry. But there was a short rain shower about 3 pm.

Although the Aix weather app forecast a lot more rain and thunderstorms in the north end of the island the Canada-France-Hawai'i Telescope did not show that. In fact, it looked like it was a nice day.

The webcams at the Kīlauea caldera seemed to show the same nice weather during the day. I took a series of photos, one during the day and one in the evening. The S1 cam is the one I have been using for the true color photo but I think I will switch to using the KW cam since it is taken from the same orientation as the F1 thermal cam. The K2 cam is what a person would see from the visitors center; if the lava level keeps rising it will become visible in a few weeks.

There were 92 new cases of COVID-19 reported today, bringing the number of known cases up to 30,776. There were no new deaths reported, so the death toll remains at 471; currently 1307 cases are considered active. The 7-day average of new cases on Oʻahu is 59 with a 2.1% positivity rate.
