About mid-morning one of the computers that was logged into VAMS had timed out because things were so slow this morning. Then when Melissa went to log in it told her she needed to update her password. We called Jennifer to find out why it was telling us to change the password; none of the other computers were giving us that error message. Jennifer sent us the VAMS help desk number. Sort of. We had a good laugh over it! The help desk wasn't much help.
We have a snack table at the Data Entry Center; different staff members randomly bring things in and leave them on the table. Here's today's snack table offerings.
You may have noticed the wipes on the snack table. We actually have 3 tubs of wipes; 1 on the snack table, 1 in the back room where we do quality control checks on the forms, & 1 on the front table by the sign in sheet and the pens. Logs refills the tubs when they are empty.
This is the one in the back room. |
We use the wipes every day to wipe down the work stations if more than one person has to use the same station and at the end of the day. They & the gallon jug of hand sanitizer came in especially handy today. Ian came up to me with a suspicious form; it looked like it had dried blood on it. This is the 2nd one I have seen at the POD. I had Ian and Amelyn sanitize their hands since they were the ones that handled it. Then I had Ian use a pair of gloves while he entered the data; after he was done he put the form in a big plastic bag & sanitized his work station. He attached a note that said there was blood on the form. I also talked with the Clinic to find out what their protocol was; it is to put it in a big plastic bag with a note for us about the blood on it so we can put on gloves before we handle it. But I found out there was a lot more blood around & their focus was on other areas with more blood and had missed the blood on the form. They even had LCC cleaning staff coming to sanitize the floor.
Lunch today was from Leeward Grill. I opted for the regular lunch today; the vegetarian option had a lot of carbs in the pasta.
Wrapping it in foil instead of ti leaf just isn't the same. |
I walked 1.96 miles today. I walked less because I left about 2 hours earlier than usual.
I left the LLC POD at about 2 pm to go to the airport; The Bronco Dude and The Most Excellent Cook were arriving with 2 friends for a visit. This is a visit that was postponed by the pandemic; they were supposed to have been here visiting a year ago in March.
They needed some dinner after their 6 hour flight; The Most Excellent Cook wanted to go to Anna Miller's but they were only open for pastries and other baked goods. Instead, we went to Zippy's by Kahala Mall. I had the Teriyaki Beef Mini and half a piece of Custard Pie. Their friend Gary preferred cheesecake so I took them to Otto Cake when we were done at Zippy's.

They have a great hand sanitizing station. |
There is also a temperature screening station. |
These stickers are on all the tables. |
While we were eating I got a text from Amelyn with today's totals. We got a few more than there were expected at the start of the day. This is only the 2nd time I can remember where we did more than was expected; usually we do 20 or 30 less than the expected.
The Aix weather app forecast a fairly good day today. And it turned out to be correct.
There were 94 new cases of COVID-19 reported today, bringing the total known cases up to 31,751. There was also 1 new death reported, bringing the death toll up to 477; currently there are 1140 cases considered active. The 7-day new case average on Oʻahu is 59 with a 2.0% positivity rate.
Hauʻoli lā Hānau e Rita & Maya!
