New Seal Pup

It turns out the mother of the new seal pup is RK96, also known as Kaiwi. In 2017, Kaiwi's mother Rocky was the seal that gave birth on Kaimana Beach! While Rocky was there, Kaiwi was also at Kaimana Beach

Early this morning I was awakened by the rain, the Aix weather app had forecast it. By the time I left the house it had been stopped for a while. But on the way to LCC, by Kaiser Moanalua, it started to rain again. It was cloudy at LCC when I got there and it was drizzling during the Ops Briefing. By the time the clinic opened the sun had come out and it was nice for the rest of the day,

Rain at 4:04 am.
Morning dew & rain at 6:49 am.
Clouds at 6:49 am.
Clouds coming over nā Koʻolau at 6:53 am.
Rain by Kaiser Moanalua at 7:02 am.
Clouds over LCC at 7:13 am.
Things cleared up in the afternoon, 3:43 pm.

As I was getting ready for work, I noticed that another bud had bloomed on the orchid; that makes 5 blossoms. There's only 1 more left to bloom.

We had only 8 people doing data entry today at the LCC POD; this is the same number as on Friday. It is planned to be the same tomorrow. We'll have to see if the numbers stay low through the remainder of the week. Right now the DOH has decided the LCC POD will only administer the Moderna vaccine; the Johnson & Johnson vaccine will be available at the Windward CC POD.

Lunch today was from Hiro's Catering; I had the regular meal rather than the spinach Salad. After I opened the bento box I realized this was the meal that we had joked about meeting the Minimum Daily Requirement for Carbon.

Carbonized chicken bits.

I started recording my walking today about midday, so it shows me walking less than a mile today.

The lava lake at Kīlauea caldera looks a little smaller than it did yesterday.

There was a magnitude 4.7 earthquake today off of Alaska; it did not generate a tsunami.

There were 54 new cases of COVID-19 reported today, bringing the total known cases up to 32,041. There was 1 new death reported, raising the death toll to 479; currently there are 1096 cases considered active. The 7-day new case average on Oʻahu is 59 with a 1.9% positivity rate.
