Slightly Less Boring

There were 626 appointments scheduled for today; most of them 2nd shots. We ended up with 622. But even though there were more forms today, it seemed like it was even slower than yesterday. Until the very end of the day when they gave the call for the "last shot". But then about 10 minutes later, there was an "oh, oh" moment when we heard the call on the radio of "one more"; it was actually 2 shots. Then there was another allowed to come in 6 minutes later; the last shots were really given at 3:30 with the forms arriving at the Data Entry Center 10 minutes later. Or about 40 minutes after the "last shot" call. Auē! This wasn't supposed to be happening again!

When I got to Ops to sign out, I had to give them a piece of my mind about the late shots; it was especially annoying since we had the same thing happen last week. Twice in 9 days! Too soon! Their reasoning was that a person with an appointment should be allowed in as long as the staff is there and there are doses left. Which means we could be there for up to 30 minutes or more after they give us the "last shot" call! I wouldn't mind the 30 minutes more if they would just say it would be 30 more minutes. But don't tell us "last shot" and keep adding more people!

They also need to do their job. The last form was incorrectly vetted. According to the vaccinator it was a 2nd shot, which means before the person gets the shot it has to be verified that the first shot they got was Moderna and it has been at least 28 days since they got the 1st shot. The person who sent them to the clinic should have vetted the form but didn't; it was totally blank. So guess who ends up finding the mistake and having to get it to the right people to correct? The Data Entry Center! Yes, so besides getting the last 2 forms at 3:30 we also have to find the data on the 1st shot and have the Clinic Manager sign the form before we can close things up. Auē!

This morning it was looking nice and clear and it stayed that way all day.

Lunch today was from The Highway Inn; I decided to take a chance and try the vegetarian option. It was a chance because I know I would have liked the Hawaiian plate that was the regular option. I should have gone with the regular lunch. The Cheesy Egg Casserole had black beans in it & was a little bland; the stir fried veggies were actually steamed & bland. The thing that looks like Lomi Salmon was actually just the vegetables from Lomi Salmon; I poured it over the casserole to give it more flavor.

Should have taken the regular option.

I spent most of the day gathering background information to fill out ICS 214 forms for the LCC POD Data Entry Center back to December 22, 2020. Yeah, all the way back to the 1st day. We had started doing the 214's daily on about March 9th after Ops informed everyone that we needed to turn them in every day.

The USGS put out another video about the Kīlauea eruption.

There were 98 new cases of COVID-19 reported today, bringing the total known cases to 31,171. There was also 1 new death reported raising the death toll to 474; currently 1197 cases are considered active. The 7-day new case average on Oʻahu is 56 with a 2.0% positivity rate.
