I volunteered with the MRC at the 1st of the First Responder LCC Vax 1.2 PODs today; this appears to be the 1st of a couple weeks worth of PODs at LCC to provide the 2nd dose for people vaccinated back in December. We did a lot of people coming in for their 2nd dose but there were also about as many people coming in for their 1st dose. There may have been about 1000 that got vaccinated today; that was the goal. But we're not sure exactly how many people got vaccinated; we had entered data on 921 people by the time we had to shut down the data entry room. The last shots were supposed to have stopped at 3 so we would have enough time to get all the data entry done by 4:30. But about 3:45 we heard a message on the radio saying there were more people that just showed up; we got those records about 4:15. There looked to be about 20 or so, may be more. We left about 5:15 because they were closing the classrooms up.

I ended up doing data entry for 3 different vaccinators; 4 if you count the very last one when I took over for someone who had to leave by the original time listed in the email deploying us. Adding new records for 1st dose was still straightforward as was adding the information about the 1st dose. The addition of the 2nd dose was a little more complicated. You had to first let the database know you wanted to search VAMS for a previous record, find the specific record in VAMS (which is a nation-wide database), then add that record to the roster for the current POD, then add the information about the 2nd dose to the record.
I made a kale proothie this morning. I have also run out of the chocolate protein powder that I have been using for my proothies. It was a little less tasty than usual.
The Aix weather app showed it would be raining both here & in Kapaʻau all day; fortunately that didn't happen here. It was overcast almost all day but never rained or even drizzled.

Looking at the clouds coming over the mountains. |
Looking towards clouds over Waianae Mountains where it's usually cloudless. |
For this round of PODs, staff is parking in a different lot; people coming in for vaccinations are parking closer to the clinic area. As I was going from the parking lot to the sign in area, I saw a blue-green detention pond; I'm not sure if that's what they call it here, but that's what they call it in Washington. during most of the year it is dry and the grass is "green"; during periods of rain the ponds fill up and become "blue".
Not sure where lunch today came from; it was teriyaki beef, Korean style chicken, rice, and noodles. I checked the wrapper on the waribashi; there were no ads. I ate at the same table I did back in December, the one with the view of the Cattle Egrets on the lawn and the battleships in West Loch.
The Tesla app showed that there might have been a bunch of rain there.
I got a bunch of emails tonight. It started with one cancelling the appointment for my 2nd dose of the Moderna vaccine that was supposed to have been on next Wednesday. It was followed by a couple more saying that I had a new one. For tomorrow ... Glad I looked at my emails this evening.
It looks like there was more lava flowing at Kīlauea caldera today than it was yesterday.
There were 71 new cases of COVID-19 reported today, bringing the total known cases up to 25,339. The state corrected the number of new deaths reported yesterday, subtracting 1, thus making our death toll 401. Currently there are 1612 cases considered active. The 7-day average of new cases on Oʻahu is 81 with a 3.0% positivity rate.
The vaccinations we did today are not included in this number. |
