Congratulations, Eileen!

Cousin Eileen finished the Honolulu Marathon in an unofficial time of 5:13:58. I was following her progress with the online tracker to see if I could be at one of the cheering stations along the way during my mid-morning walk time between 10 and 11. But she was past those on the way out about 7 am and on the way back round 9:15. In fact, she finished at 10:23 am! Congratulations, again!
6:45 am, on her way to the cheering station near Km 17.

I was awakened a little after 5 am by the fireworks they set off for the start of the Honolulu Marathon. By the time I was getting up out of bed, Eileen had passed the Ala Wai canal; when I left the house at 6:30 she was running along the base of Leʻahi. As I started my sunrise walk Eileen was finishing off her 15th kilometer of running! During my walk I saw Melissa with Karpo & Lily on Sierra, Loy was already at the bus shelter waiting for his ride back home, and I saw LaVie also headed up to the bus shelter. Towards the end of my walk I saw Mike & Marley, and LaVie passed by on another lap around the circle. As I finished up my walk, Eileen had just passed the halfway point of the marathon and was headed for Hawaii Kai.
At 5:19 am, just after the start; I'm on my way back to sleep.
At 5:58 am; Eileen has just crossed the Ala Wai & I'm just getting up out of bed.
Nineteen minutes before sunrise on Waiʻalae.
Eight minutes before sunrise on Maunalani.
Nine minutes after sunrise on Sierra.
7:31 am, Eileen is headed to Hawaii Kai.
There are 29,000 people out there running around Leʻahi for the Honolulu Marathon.
8:13 am; almost done with the Hawaii Kai loop & headed back to the finish.

Dad was having breakfast in bed when I arrived; Eileen was almost done with the lap around Hawaii Kai by that time. Dad ate all of his fried egg sandwich, papaya, and banana. He drank 120 ml of cranberry juice and 100 ml of water.

As I got ready for my mid-morning walk, Eileen was headed back and was nearing Leʻahi. As I headed out for my walk, she was once again running along the base of Leʻahi. I decided to just do laps around the circle in case she needed a ride back to the house. Eileen finished the marathon before I finished my mid-morning walk; she didn't need a ride back to the house so I just continued with my 3 laps around the circle.
9:26 am, Eileen heads for Leʻahi while I go to change and apply sunscreen.
9:54 am, she's headed for the finish while I head for the door.
10:08 am, the red flag marks the finish; she's really close!
The starting point for my mid-morning walk. Eileen will finish the marathon in about 10 minutes.

Here's what the eucalyptus trees look like after being topped.

Lunch today was Roast beef, Mashed potatoes, Seasoned green beans, Garden salad, Red velvet cake, and Potato chowder; I skipped lunch because there was going to be light lunch at the lecture I was going to. As usual, Dad ate all his 1/2 peanut butter & banana sandwich and his dessert. He drank 120 ml cranberry juice but no water.

I skipped my afternoon walk; I went to a lecture on birds instead. Specifically the 'Alalā and Manu-o-Kū. It was the one Sharon told me about that was sponsored by EnVision Kaimuki; it was held at da Shop. I really enjoyed both lectures and made a contact for additional volunteer work on the Big Island with endangered bird species.

Here's the lunch I had; it jacked up my carb count to nearly 50 g. It's both good and bad that I have been measuring the ketone bodies in my urine. Good in that I know what the level of carbs are that will keep me in ketogenesis; bad in that I know what the level of carbs are that will keep me in ketogenesis! I am finding myself keeping track of that level and when I know I am going to exceed it,  thinking, "What the heck, I'm going over, I might as well eat more carbs since I know after a day of eating closer to the 20 g level and walking a bunch I can get back in to ketogenesis!" Aue! I don't think that's how they meant for Carb Manager to be used!
Pastrami sandwich from Sprout.
French dip sandwich from EARL.

In an effort to diversify my eating options I made a batch of Chocolate Avocado Pudding. You read that right, avocado is the main ingredient in the pudding. I have tried this before as a dairy-free option and I like it! My previous efforts have used regular sugar; this batch was made with xylitol to reduce the carb load. I will take photos of the next batch that I make.

I saw Koa & Kuma's buddy Shiro this morning. He was just sitting by the car outside the gate, chilling.

I was still working off the carbs from dinner last night when I got up this morning. My 2 walks before lunch got me back in to ketogenesis. But my lunch options kicked my body back to using carbs again. I'll have to get back in to ketogenesis tomorrow.
6:08 am, upon waking.
12:48 pm; after walking but before lunch.
3:58 pm, 3 hours after lunch with no afternoon walk. Aue!

Hauʻoli lā Hānau to Terry!
