#HIgotvaccinated!

I entered the #HIgotvaccinated drawings for various prizes. Since the peak of vaccinations in mid-April, many states are doing various things to get their residents to come in for vaccinations; this is Hawaiʻi's incentive to increase then percent of vaccinated residents.

You can tell #HIgotvaccinated is geared towards residents; beginning this Friday there are weekly drawings till the end of June for 100,000 Hawaiian Miles, Zippy's food for a year, and a round trip for 2 to Las Vegas, among other prizes. I am more excited about some of the prizes than I am about others.

Besides prize drawings, there are also deals & discounts that can be had by presenting a valid vaccination card. Deals and discounts are mainly on Oʻahu but there are a few on the other islands as well.

I finally weighed myself this morning. This is supposed to be my post-Hawaiʻi Island trip weight but it includes time spent with Susan ... eating our way through Honolulu... I was pleasantly surprised to learn that I was 1.2 pounds lighter than I was one month ago!

We have been trying to get the cats more comfortable with getting in the carrier and going to the veterinarian, especially Luna. She has to be tranquilized before her visit to the vet. To do that we leave the carriers around with a towel inside so the cats can use it as a hiding place throughout the day. Today I found Luna lounging in one of the carriers. Good girl, Luna!

The Governor has announced that restrictions on sizes of social gatherings and restaurant capacity will be eased as the vaccination rates increase. Once 60% are vaccinated, groups up to 25 indoors & up to 75 outdoors can gather; restaurants will be allowed to seat up to 75% of their capacity. When 70% of residents are vaccinated, all state restrictions will be lifted. Currently, 53% of residents are fully vaccinated.

And on June 15th, restrictions on interisland travel will be lifted. Hulō! That means I will no longer need to have a pre-travel COVID-19 test to go to Hawaiʻi Island!

I could find no rentals for Sarah & Evan today. There were about 20 new rentals but all more than 1 hour drive away from HPA. And 3 of the potential options had been removed by the person that posted the rental; there are now 8 left on the list.

There were 33 new cases of COVID-19 reported today, bringing the total known cases up to 36,649.There were no new deaths reported keeping the death toll at 505; currently there are 701 cases considered active. The 7-day new case average for Oʻahu is 26 with a 1.0% positivity rate.

Hauʻoli lā Hānau e Karin! The solar PV system in Kohala was turned on 2 years ago today.
