COVID-19

No doubt you have heard of the novel coronavirus that has recently emerged. Recently information was posted at Maunalani about it. Because it's flu season there are signs around asking people to refrain from visiting residents if they have a runny nose, sneezing, cough, sore throat, or fever. Residents showing any of those symptoms are immediately tested for the flu. Last year when 4 residents came down with the flu all residents were confined to their room and visitors were discouraged from coming; all community events were cancelled. The infected patients were isolated and enhanced contact procedures were in effect; staff interacting with the infected patients wore disposable gowns, gloves, & masks. I'm pretty sure if any resident has symptoms with a negative flu test they will be tested for the coronavirus and handled appropriately.

It was raining on and off all night; at one point it rained so heavily it woke me up! But it was dry when I left the house and there was no precip on the way up. But it was extremely windy; I thought about stopping on the circle because I was not getting warm by my usual point but I pressed on. By the time I was done with the circle I had warmed up nicely in spite of the wind; I saw no one and no cats there. I headed down Sierra. Just before I got to the bus shelter by the park it began to drizzle; then as I reached the bus shelter it began to pour! It rained for about 5 minutes; although it stopped it looked like there would be more rain showers on their way so when the rain stopped I turned around and headed back up. In hindsight, I was premature in calling of my walk; there was no precip during my return walk or during my cool down stretches. But it did drizzle on and off throughout the morning.
Fifteen minutes before sunrise on Waiʻalae.
Six minutes before sunrise on Maunalani.
Rain seven minutes after sunrise on Sierra.
Rain showers.

When I walked past Wilts' house I saw that a new set of stairs was being built along the west side and a new retaining wall along the east side. It also looked like there was a slab poured down below the house.

Dad was awake when I got to his room; he was eating breakfast in bed. He ate 1/2 his fried egg sandwich and all of his papaya & banana. He drank 240 ml orange juice but no water.

When I signed in this morning I saw the greeting sign from yesterday. I will need to find out the 'Ōlelo Hawaiʻi for all the days of the week. And also numbers.

Besides the intermittent drizzles the wind was also blowing. A lot! For me, today, the wind was more of a problem than the precip. Even with the walking I was not able to warm up much. Then during my sunrise cool down stretches, I got even colder! Washing my hands in warm water helped warm me up a little, but even with my flannel shirt on I felt cold all morning.

Lunch today was Saucy cabbage roll, Steamed rice, Sauteed herbed zucchini, Tossed salad, Mandarin orange cake, and Broccoli cheese soup. Dad ate all his 1/2 peanut butter & banana sandwich and 2 pieces of cake. He drank 240 ml of orange juice and 120 ml water.

I left early & skipped the afternoon walk since Tre from RevoluSun was back again today; he needed one more part to complete the PV installation. He installed that this afternoon. The last time he was here I gave Tre a pomelo; he had never had one before but said he liked grapefruit. I asked him whether he liked it; he said yes. I gave him 3 more.

I had the last serving of Fat Head Pizza and Air Fryer Broccoli this evening. And I remembered to take a photo before I started eating!

Luna & S'mores went to the vet today for their shots and annual check-up. Although The Roommates sedated them before they left the house Luna was still very anxious & fighting the vet; they had to put her out completely to administer the shots and do their exam; they also put caps on her claws. The Roommates picked the cats up when Luna was awake again; they brought her home but she was still a little loopy. She was very docile and cuddly.
