Great Aloha Run Pau!

Today was the Great Aloha Run; Brent and I left the house at around 4:30 to catch The Bus to get to the shuttle point in Waikīkī. It was a 0.45 mile walk to the bus stop. From the shuttle drop off point in downtown it was about 0.84 mile to the starting point for our group time. From there it was about .11 mile to the official starting point for the digital monitoring; the course itself was 8.15 miles. Then another 0.13 mile to get through the stadium and out the other side. All total we walked at least 9.68 miles by the time we got back to the shuttle to go back to Waikīkī.
Leaving the house at 4:37 am.
Our route down to the bus stop.
On the bus.
There are only 2 stalls in the bathroom at the Sheraton.
Twenty-four minutes before sunrise in downtown.
The route from the drop off point to the starting line.
Nineteen minutes before sunrise at Aloha Tower.

Remember that Aesopʻs Fable about The Tortoise and the Hare? There is a race and the hare speeds off ahead but becomes overconfident and takes a nap, while the tortoise plods along slowly but surely and ends up finishing before the hare. That sort of happened; Brent wanted to run as much as possible so he went on ahead at his faster pace while I walked at my usual pace of about 3.4 mph. Brent's time was 2:17:45; mine was 2:23:48. What happened was that at every mile marker he ran for as long as he could; he found that after he stopped running, his walking was slower than when he did not run. The weather was overcast for all except about 5 minutes; there was also a very light drizzle part of the time.

Getting ready to leave the viaduct at 8:42.
Here's the sky we were walking under for nearly the entire course.
On our way to the stadium!
At 8:49 at the worst hill on the route; it is about the same grade as the flat parts of my daily walk.
Mile #6 at 8:53.
Mile #7 at 9:11.
At 9:14 at the only porta-potties with no lines.
Getting ready to turn towards the stadium at 9:18.
The stadium is in sight at 9:22.
At 9:24, nearing the ticket booth where we started jogging during the 2019 GAR.
At 9:29 on the ramp leading in to the stadium; the end is near!
The finish line at 9:31.
The route.

At the end of the run they give out snacks and water; but all the snacks are high carb so I gave mine to Brent and ate a meat bar that I brought with me. When we got back to the shuttle point we went to Zippyʻs for breakfast. I opted for eggs, bacon, and Portuguese sausage only.

There was a bunch of art that we passed along the way. Some of it was in the downtown area, some of it was along the course route. One included an eagle head that had the coloration of a Bald Eagle but the shape of a Golden Eagle; artwork by an artist, not a biologist.
Artwork in downtown.
Artwork along Nimitz Highway.
More artwork.
The interesting eagle.

We are definitely doing the Pineapple Run again. We might also do the Kolekole 10K.

I checked the lemongrass again tonight. The roots are really growing!

All the walking I did today had me burning fats. But I was feeling a little more stiff and sore today than I did last year. I am not sure if it is because I am still adjusting to the ketogenesis or if it might be the fibromyalgia making my recovery slower.
At 4:12 am, on waking.
At 4:31 pm, after a bunch of walking and a nap.

Hauʻoli lā Hānau to Marc & Dixie!
