Little Ting's Dumplings

We met Barb in Shoreline for lunch at Little Ting's Dumplings. We tried their Pork Steamed XLB, Pork & Pickled Nappa steamed dim sum, and Beef Onion panfried dim sum. They were all good.

I couldn't really get a good photo of the inside of the XLB.

After lunch we walked next door to Diva Espresso so Kai could get his caffeine for the day. We both tried the Generra. It is a mocha with orange zest; I had mine with coconut milk instead of milk. I thought mine was really bitter; Kai said it was probably because all their sizes are made with 2 shots of espresso and I had a 12 ounce while he had a 16 ounce drink. He also thought that the fats in real milk smoothed out the bitterness better than plant-based fats. Though we both agreed that the fats in coconut milk were superior to the fats in almond milk.

It was snowing this morning as we got ready to leave the house to meet Barb. On the drive down in some areas like south Everett it was snowing even harder. It stopped just north of the county line. But by the time we finished lunch it had started to snow in Shoreline as well.
Snowing!

Looking up the street from the driveway.
The trusty Outback, waiting for a day of driving in the snow.
I'm glad the Outback has butt warmers!

As we headed back north to Mary Ellen and Michael's house to pick up Kai's hat the sun came out. It softened up the snow on top of the car enough so when I came to a stop on a slight decline a whole bunch of snow came sliding forward on to the windshield! Kai cleared it off and we went on our way.

Here are some nice snow landscapes for you to enjoy while you stay warm and toasty! All photos are by Kai.

Earlier, when we were having lunch with Barb, she thought she knew where Kai was living. She asked if there was a tract of forest nearby where an elderly man lived. We weren't sure it was the right place, but we took photos of where we thought she was describing and sent them to her; it will be interesting to see if it is the same place.

Tonight was pizza and movie night. We stopped at Haggens to pick up some things to drink. Then we picked up a large Chicken Tikka Pizza and a large Hawaiian Pizza from A Pizza House. I got a chance to see Gulshan one more time and say good bye. Both pizzas were consumed before the movie started.

One slice of Chicken Tikka in the Hawaiian box. The rest is gone!

The main reason for pizza and movie night was so that Kai could show me the greatest Christmas movie ever: Die Hard. We determined that the events begin late afternoon on Christmas Eve (the sun is just beginning to set, on December 24th sunset is around 4:45) and continue through the night. And they do clearly state at the point where they are being ordered to turn off the power to several city blocks that it is going to spoil Christmas Eve for those folks. At the end of the mayhem the sky is clearly being lit up by the sun; on Christmas Day sunrise would be around 6:55. So all the action takes place in about 14 hours. (I forget what MoPop calls this genre of movie.) There was a lot of Hollywood physics and Hollywood biology involved.

After that, Kai thought we should watch Hot Fuzz. Apparently because it was the movie that started all the parodies of buddy cop movies. It was strange.
