Snowing in Gold Bar

I knew there would be snow on the ground at Sheryl & Randy's out in Gold Bar; we had planned to visit, then watch the Seahawks vs Packers game with them. There were a couple inches on the ground when we arrived; more when we left.
About 2 hours after we arrived.

We left Marysville around noon to get to Sheryl & Randy's home in Gold Bar by 1 pm; there was hail on the car. There was a very light drizzle in Marysville in the low parts; when we got up to SR 9 it was snowing. And it continued to snow for the rest of the drive out to their house.
It hailed as we were getting ready to leave Marysville.
It started to snow up on SR 9.

Along the way we passed one accident that appeared to have happened a few minutes before we got there. Either 3 or 4 cars were involved; a snowmobile being transported back to town was also on the road. We skirted around the dozen or so cars that had stopped to render aid.
The accident.
A couple miles down the road from the accident.

Kai needed his caffeine so we stopped at Zeke's Drive-In; he apparently was not paying attention when I described how to get to Sheryl & Randy's. The turn off of the highway is immediately opposite the exit driveway for Zeke's! He got both a coffee and an Eggnog Shake.
Looking a little wet without his hat.

They also have an inside seating area; you carry your own food over to it.

Sheryl & Randy have 2 dogs; Gracie is a Boston terrier and Maze looks to be a pit bull-type mix. They are both boisterous and friendly dogs that will lick you to death!
Maze moves in to distract the prey.
Maze has successfully distracted the prey, now Gracie comes in for the attack.
Gracie attacks!
All is calm when everyone has their treats.

As hobbies, Randy does both stained glass and woodworking. He showed us a stained glass piece patterned after a photo of his father racing a hydroplane. He also had a wooden model that he had carved.

The drive back took about 50% longer than the drive to their house because of the weather; it had continued to snow during the entire time we were there and was snowing when we got back to the house; I'm not sure what time it stopped.
The snow as we got to SR 2.

It was still snowing when we reached Marysville.

The end of the day was a big change from what the weather was doing when I went to the car in the morning; it was wet but there was no snow.
Four minut3es before sunrise; no snow ...
... just rain.

I started the morning having breakfast at The Stilly Diner in Arlington with The Most Excellent Cook and The Bronco Dude. They were running a little late, but that was okay because it was standing room only with a wait list. I signed us up; they arrived about 30 seconds before we were called to be seated. The Cook got the Huge Housemade Cinnamon Roll, The Dude got the Veggie Lover's Omelet, and I got The Stilly Omelet.

The Stilly Omelet.

The cinnamon roll was HUGE! I measured it and found it was 8&1/2 inches in diameter! The Cook cut it up and we shared it with the 2 couples on the next table. And there was still a good-sized piece for me to take home to Kai. I think I still like the Maltby Cafe cinnamon rolls better; they're big but not as large as this one and I recall them having a stronger cinnamon flavor than this one did.
It's 8&1/2 inches in diameter!
Cutting it up in to more manageable pieces.

On the way back to the house I saw a pair of Bald Eagles in a tree adjacent to the road. When I got back I saw that Ian was charging his electric car ... out in the driveway in the precipitation. I will have to check more about whether they can be charged in the rain.

Hauʻoli lā Hānau to Sam!
